UPPER GILES – SIMONSTOWN

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Originally there was a small dwelling at the back of the property, but most of it was demolished. There is no existing road to the site, resulting in all materials and equipment to be carried! The structural design was done in-house with very challenging foundation conditions, therefore the entire house was built on piles constructed by hand due to the lack of accessibility on the site. Being surrounded by both mountain and ocean, glass doors were used to create a natural integration between the interior and exterior.
